Welcome to Our Renovation Story
What started as a house that wasn’t quite “us” turned into something we couldn’t stop thinking about.
Bill was initially surprised that LB even wanted to view the house—most rooms were stuck in a dull, margarine-colored past, while others had been updated in a style that couldn’t have been further from our own. And yet, there was something about the house—and especially the location—that felt different.
Despite it being just a casual start to looking at home, LB teared up feeling this would be a cozy home for the next chapter of empty nesting.
After several rounds of negotiation (right up until less than 48 hours before closing), the house was finally ours.
From Vision to Reality
We knew we wanted to take our time making it our own—but that didn’t stop us from jumping into planning right away.
Everything lived in a shared Google Doc (a new experience for our kitchen contractor), giving us one place to track ideas, link to materials, and align on decisions. It became the backbone of the entire renovation.
Along the way, we uncovered the original blueprints—offering a glimpse into what the house was meant to be, what actually got built, and what we wanted to reimagine.
Making It Ours
From the beginning, we had one guiding principle: this should be FUN.
That mindset shows up in the details—small, personal touches that bring character into each space, alongside larger upgrades like plumbing the home for propane to support the features we really wanted.
What started as a dated, one-tone house is now a series of spaces that reflect how we want to live.
